WINE SPECIAL
Campolieti, Ripasso
Valpolicella, Valpolicella, Italy
·
60% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 10% Molinara
·
Valpolicella is located in Northeast Italy,
specifically in Veneto, Italy’s largest wine producing region.
·
Valpolicella is the second most important red
DOC in Italy, after Chianti.
·
This wine is done in the ripasso style.
Valpolicella is known for Amarone della Valpolicella. This is a dry red wine
made from raisinated grapes. The
resulting wine is intense, concentrated, and full. Ripasso wines are made by
adding the unpressed skins of amarone grapes to basic Valpolicella wine. The skins add alcohol, tannin, and complexity
to the normally light and fruity basic Valpolicella wine.
·
Tasting Notes: Medium-full bodied wine with both
pronounced acidity and tannin. This wine
shows depth and complexity. Notes of raisinated fruit-dried cherries, bitter
hazelnut, and toast.
·
This would be excellent with many options from
our Red Sauce menu, our Bolognese, and Peperonata pizza.
